Joey Ferreyra
Aviation Sales & Customer Experience
Joey Ferreyra will present the latest advancements in Garmin Guided Visuals and demonstrate how pilots can begin using Garmin Pilot and Garmin SmartCharts effectively. Developed in partnership with Hughes Aerospace, Garmin Guided Visuals deliver standardized lateral and vertical guidance for airports challenged by terrain and complex airspace. Garmin Pilot serves as a powerful electronic flight bag, supporting preflight planning, flight plan filing, and in-flight navigation, while SmartCharts enhances situational awareness through dynamic, intuitive charting capabilities unique to Garmin.
Joey joined Garmin in 2010 and quickly assumed a key marketing leadership role during a transformative period for the company. He helped guide the evolution from the widely adopted GNS and G1000 platforms to the GTN Xi series, G1000 NXi, G3000, and G5000 flight decks, including the Collier Trophy winning Garmin Autoland technology. Today, he leads a team dedicated to supporting aircraft owners and leveraging customer insight to drive innovation and growth. Joey is a commercial pilot with instrument and multi-engine ratings, holds a C525S type rating, and has logged more than 1,000 flight hours. He regularly flies an RV 10 that he built with his father.
Dierk Reuter
Proficient Pilot Program Co-Founder
Dierk Reuter is deeply committed to advancing his own flight safety and elevating standards across the global TBM community. As a co-founder of TBM-PPP, he champions pilot proficiency, data-driven safety, and continuous improvement among owner operators. Dierk began flying gliders at age 12 and later earned a PhD in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. Before dedicating more time to aviation, he built a successful career in finance, working at Goldman Sachs and co-founding Lucid Markets Trading.
An accomplished aviator, Dierk holds the FAI Diamond Badge, including the Polar Diamond, and has flown his TBM around the world twice. In 2019, he set a transatlantic speed record in a single-engine TBM, flying from New York to Paris in 8 hours and 38 minutes, approximately 90 minutes faster than Chuck Yeager’s historic twin-engine crossing. He has also explored remote regions by helicopter, including an expedition to Cape Horn with fellow TBM pilot Sebastián Díaz. In support of journalist Johannes Hano, Dierk transported ZDF film crews across the Arctic and South Pacific, contributing to documentaries that reached an audience of roughly 16 million viewers and showcased the TBM in demanding real-world operations.
Chris Bishop
Director, Flight Operations
Chris will present a practical session on leveraging your Flight Management System for proactive operations across every phase of flight. His discussion will cover VNAV considerations, effective ATC interaction, flight mode annunciation awareness, stabilized approach strategies, and anticipating the unexpected. The goal is simple. Reduce pilot workload, improve precision, and reinforce disciplined automation use in high-performance aircraft operations.
Chris brings more than 28 years of experience in FAR 135 and FAR 121 airline operations, along with decades of work as a FAR 141 and FAR 91 CFII. He holds an Airline Transport Pilot certificate, multiple type ratings across turboprop, corporate, and heavy jet aircraft, and an A&P mechanic certificate. His broad operational and technical background gives him a unique perspective on both the pilot and aircraft side of aviation.
